It was nice to have some sunshine and good weather to add to the atmosphere of the race on Good Friday. There was a strong field of 25 youth A girls (Under 16) on the start line. We started one minute behind the youth A boys. There was a relaxed lead up to the race, a fast start but the bunch settled down fairly quickly. Throughout the race there were many attacks from lots of riders keeping it interesting, unfortunately coming up to the end of the race the boys did come round and lap our bunch, this caused much of the next lap of our race to be neutralised with a car so they could have their sprint without having a separate race confuse the results and their finish.
Heading into the last lap of our own race it was clear that any attempts to split the bunch or get away were unlikely, this meant that a good position going into the finish was absolutely Essential. I managed to find a good wheel in the bunch to follow though and finished in an unexpected 3rd place after giving it my all in the sprint.
