Alex Greenfield on Limousin and Relaxing

Tuesday morning 7am and we were on the road!   I was fast asleep for the first half of the journey until I got woken up around Paris by some crazy French Police. I don’t know what their agenda was! They were kicking off about something, I couldn’t understand. Turns out they wanted to check the paper work of the vehicles and drivers. I just went back to sleep until we stopped along route for a picnic before and  then cracked on to a hotel in Limousine.

No Stress before the start

We took a spin that evening on the bikes to get the travel out our legs. Having an awesome sense of direction I said I would take us for a loop but no one had any faith in me so we ended up doing some funny out and back ride. We got a little worried midway when we only had 10 minutes of our ride left and we were in the middle of nowhere and getting chased by some crazy dogs. But all was well and we made it back in time for tea, big steak and ice-cream to make sure we kept morale high for start of the race!

Alex looking ahead to Limousin

Packing for Tour of Limousin has just began… I forgot how stressful it is to get everything ready for a stage race!

Alex at Dwaars Westhoek - by Bart Hazen

I’m looking forward to a good few days on the road with the team bit of banter and bike racing.  I was hoping I could ease back into stage racing with a nice steady first stage but just found out that stage 1 is epic! a 10k loop with a massive climb in each time and then out for a bigger lap with another 2 climbs, uhooo starting to get quite worried now.

Racing, Training and Le Tour de France

I arrived Thursday in Belgium at my team house for my first European race of the season.  It will the be the real kick off of my season.

Me, Simo, Helen and Brit where in the race and we worked really good together.  Annie cracked a big attack in on lap one but unfortunately it didn’t stick.  Then after 2 more laps the group was stating to split with a group of 10 starting to go away.  I was a bit far back and missed the initial move so attacked across to it and Helen jumped on my wheel.

Alex Greenfield update from Stoke

Last Thursday I raced in Stoke in the Horizon Fitness women’s criterium.  We had some promotional things before the race with some local schools which was pretty cool, handing out some photo’s of the team and signing t-shirts (even though they probably didn’t have a clue who we were)!

Our DS, Stef, gave us a good team talk before the crit and gave us our game plan and got us all psyched up! Once the race was underway, Helen was on the front for the first 5 laps destroying everyone and we could already see the cracks coming.  We all tried to keep the pressure on, make a few attacks and then Dani hit out got a gap and that was that. This weekend I went to my team launch in Oxford, we got put up in this swanky hotel the night before so it gave me a chance to get to know the team properly, everyone was so cool and we all got on really well so that’s good news for the future.

10 Questions with Alex Greenfield

Here are Alex’s thoughts on her cycling career; Past Present and Future

What is your background in Cycling? I spent my youth racing and training at Maindy track and it was a good base with lots of children my age so I made close friendships. When I reached U12 category I started training with a group and we all became very close traveling to races together and training together. It was really good fun and I’ve got lots of memories from our trips away.
